Original language description
Gastrointestinal tracts of 80 individuals of various cloven-hoofed species were investigated for a presence of Haemonchus contortus. Examined gastrotintestinal tracts were acquired during hunting seasons of 2017 and 2018 from 11 game reserves across the Czech Republic. Helminthological dissection revealed H. contorus in 19 % of examined animals. Intensity of infection varied from three up to 1116 nematodes. The parasite was confirmed in three investigated game reserves. The highest abundance and mean intensity were detected in mouflons followed by wild goats. On the contrary, H. contortus was almost absent in cervids only few adult individuals were recovered from abomasa of two roe deer.
