List of pet-traded terrestrial gastropods based on data from the Czech Republic
Original language description
The Czech Republic is one of the main importers, exporters and producers of animals for ornamental purpose. Generally, pet trade is not well monitored and the Czech Republic serves as a gateway to import of ornamental animals to Europe. Despite many species of terrestrial gastropods which are known as pests or invaders, the trade with them has not been surveyed in detail. Therefore, we compiled a list of pet-traded terrestrial gastropods based on data from the Czech Republic. During the survey of the Czech market with ornamental terrestrial gastropods, 55 species (52 snails and three slugs) from eight families were found. Lissachatina fulica, L. immaculata and L. reticulata were identified as very common in the market
