The effect of fertilization on yield and P content of silage maize

  • Original language description

The long-term experiment was carried out to assess the effects of long-term ammonium sulfate (AS), urea ammonium nitrate (UAN), urea ammonium nitrate + PK (UAN +PK) and Urea ammonium nitrate + PMg (UAN + PMg) treatments on dry aboveground biomass yield (BY), P content and uptake of silage monoculture maize (Zea mays L.) for the periods of (1996-1998) and (2017-2019). The average dry aboveground BY of silage maize in 1996-1998 and in 2017-2019 ranged from 9,99 to 13,7 t/ha and 7,63 to 12,2 t/ha respectively. The average P content in the dry biomass of silage maize ranged from 1552 to 1989 mg/kg in 1996-1998 and 1853 to 2318 mg/kg in 2017-2019. The highest P contents were recorded in 2017-2019 under UAN + PK and control treatments respectively. The maximum (29,3 mg/kg) and minimum (17,5 mg/kg) P uptake was recorded in 2017-2019 period at UAN + PK and control treatments respectively. However, fluctuation among the treatments and years were observed.
