The present states of pig husbandry in Czech Republic.

Original language description

In CR 70% of all sows are engaged in insemination. In the herds with higher concentration of sows is carried out. An insemination plays an importand role in nucleus herds. Performance testsare concentrated on: reproduction traits, growth and feed efficiency, traits and carcass and meat quality. Breeding value estimation (EBV) hos been carried out since 1997 with the method BLUP-Animal model. At mather breeds the aggregate breeding value consists of particular breeding valued for reproduction, growth andfeed efficiency and a carcass quality. At father breeds only for growth and feed efficiency and a carcass quality. In CR are 18 seneral firms hybrid programmes.
