A 19 ha large field was selected for observation of heterogenity. The field is located near Research Institute of Crop Production in Prague. The soil quality was observed based on the dimensions of clods before seeding.There were measured statistcally significant differences of soil preparation quality during the machine operation. Weighted mean of clod dimensions, whitch corresponds to abundance of single fractions, was from 14.1 to 33.8 mm. A sutable method for measurement of soil preparation qualityduring tiller operation is looked fof. Utilization of compactor with capability of soil preparation intensity change during operation is prepared.
