Original language description
Turning of overlays has in comparison with turning of drawn or rolled semi-products some differences, which follow from specific properties of overlays. Therefore it is not possible to use published standards for optimization of cutting conditions. In practice optimum cutting conditions are usually determined from long-term tool-life test results. These time-consuming tests must be done for each combination of overlay - cutting materials. On the basis of evaluated tests made in our department there wasdetermined tool-life T - cutting speed vc relationship for turning of overlay made using wire C 508 for pulsed carbon dioxide shielded surfacing. Afterwards there was elaborated optimization of cutting conditions at minimum machining costs criterion forrelatively wide scale of workshop economic indexes.
