The influence of Three Way Catalyst on harmful emission production
Original language description
This article deals with the influence of Three Way Catalyst (TWC) on the production of the basic harmful emissions of the spark-ignition engines. Some examples are the emissions of carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. For the system follow up of the Catalyst influence on the emission production, a virtual simulation of the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) (European Union, 2007) is used. Measured characteristics of particular produced components in the emission in the front and back of the catalyst, which were measured on the test bed, are the basis of the simulation. Moreover, the result is the specific production of particular produced components in the emission converted into one kilometer travelled (0.6214mi.), specified again for the emission in the front and back of the catalyst.
