Influence of increased temperature on energy production of roof integrated PV panels

  • Original language description

A temperature of roof integrated PV panels can increase substantially in comparison with that of free standing PV panels. Energy production of roof integrated PV panels can be reduced substantially. The temperature and energy production of roof integrated and free standing PV panels was investigated at the Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS) in Prague. The annual difference 3,2 K in temperature and 3,5% in energy production between roof integrated and free standing PV panels has been evaluated. The experimental results of the measurement of roof integrated panels have verified the new simplified thermal model of PV panel developed at Czech Technical University (CTU). The model has been used for further analysis of PV panel performance in different climates. While roof integration of PV panel in cold, moderate and warm climate (Stockholm, Prague, Athens) brings only reduction of energy production by several percents, it could lead to exposition to very high temperatures in hot climate (R
