Alternative harvest scheduling for final cut with respect to silvicultural requirements
Original language description
Significant changes in conditions of forest management have been noticed in Slovak forest management during last fifteen years. Even thought shelterwood system is preferred and area of forest management units is much smaller as used to be, the classicalway of allowable cut indicators derived for large units managed by clear-cutting system has been still used in the practice. The paper presents alternative harvest scheduling with respect to shelterwood silvicultural requirements. Proposal five alternatives are solved by integer programming on the example of the forest management unit covers 562.12 ha with the objective of the maximization of total cut volume over planning horizon of 50 years. Obtained results of total cut, flow of area cut and volume cut respectively are compared with two allowable cut indicators: cutting percentage and empirical cutting percentage.
