Estimation of Technical Efficiency in the production technologies for Czechs Sawmill Enterprises.
Original language description
The main aim of this paper is to determine the influence of the type of production technology adopted on the technical efficiency of Czech sawmill enterprises, using firm one-year data from sawmill enterprises and applying a stochastic frontier production function model. Individual technical efficiencies are obtained for small, medium and large sawmill enterprises, and their determinants are estimated using a procedure proposed by Battese and Coelli (1995). The results support the hypothesis that sawmills in the sample were not completely technically efficient.
