In reviewingtheoccurrenceofthebarkbeetle Dendroctonus micans in theCzechRepublicoverthepast 100 years,wefoundthat D. micans has beendetectedat80localitieswithelevationsrangingfrom158 to 1350ma.s.l.During2011?2012,werecordedthreelocaloutbreakson Picea pungens, twoofwhich involved isolatedtreesinurbanareasbetweenhouses(alwaysonsites<1ha).Fromtheselocallyabun- dant populations,125adults,5pupae,and73larvaeof D. micans were obtainedanddissected.Among these dissectedspecimens,nematodesinthehemolymphweredetectedinonly5adultsand11larvae. No otherparasitesorpathogenswerefoundinthe D. micans specimens. Lownumbersofthebeetle Rhizophagus grandis, whichisaspecificpredatorof D. micans, weredetected,andnonecontainedparasites or pathogens.Locally D. micans could constituteanewlimitedthreattourbantrees,including P. pungens, in theCzechRepublicandCentralEurope. Special attentionshouldbegiventosolitary P. pungens trees; if D. micans is detectedonthesetrees,defensivemeasuresmustbetakentoprotectuninfestedt
