Uplatnění zásad integrované ochrany rostlin proti lýkožroutu modřínovému (Ips cembrae (Heer, 1836))
Original language description
Preventive measures against Ips cembrae are based on the thorough removal of wood and branches suitable for the development of this species. This means the processing of all infested wood and the transport of wood from the forest before new-generation beetles leave the wood. Because I. cembrae can develop even in thin material with diameter thicker than 3 cm (treetops and branches), it is also necessary to ensure the remediation of residues by burning or chipping. This is necessary to apply at increased population densities (discovery of abandoned infested trees) throughout the year (from March) due to the early onset of flight activity and almost continuous activity of adults. Control measures should be applied in larch stands of all ages, especially in weakened forest stands, mainly in periods of drought. Infested larches are searched visually according to sawdusts and drops of resin on the trunk. Sawdusts fallen out from entry holes are often heavily impregnated with resin
