Cucujus cinnaberinus (Scopoli, 1763) is a saproxylic beetle listed in Annexes II and IV in the Council of the European Communities conservation of natural Hhabitats and of wild fauna and flora Ddirective (92/43/CEEC 1992). In the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (20076) C. cinnaberinus is classified as vulnerable (VU). This species also is cited in many red lists throughout Europe (e.g., Gärdenfors, 2005; Jelínek, 2005; Šternbergs, 1998). Although this species is highly protected there is a lack of knowledge about its ecology. Even, although some brief preliminary studies were have been done (Palm 1941; Bussler, 2002).
