The influence of woody edges on wheat yield
Original language description
Research on the influence of edges on crop yield is based on an environmental land use approach to landscape. It uses the concept of ecotones, and deals mainly with the edge effect. This study identifies the influence of edges on crop yield. This influence can be both negative and positive. Applications of landscaping arrangements with a minimal impact on crop yield are also discussed. The model area of this study is situated in the agricultural landscape of the Čáslav region in the Czech Republic. A number of measurements were made based on the principle of precise agriculture. On the basis this study it can be concluded the negative influence of woody edges on crop yield is inconsiderable on the scale chosen here (up to 300 metres).
