Small mammals as an indicator of biodiversity on wet meadows in the Třeboň area
Original language description
The aim of our work was to describe the relationship between the biodiversity of small mammals and the conditions in their biotopes on various types of meadows in the Třeboň area during year 2009. For small mammal communities, Shannon?s index was used tocompare the biodiversity in the studied sites. In addition, we measured some meteorological characteristics, above all soil temperature and moisture. We captured a total of 83 individuals of five small mammal species; 71 individuals were marked and released (25 ind. of Microtus arvalis, 33 ind. of M. agrestis, 7 ind. of Micromys minutus; 4 ind. of Apodemus sylvaticus and 2 ind. of Sorex araneus). The highest Shannon?s index value was on the Mown Wet Meadow site. The highest biomass of small mammals wasdetermined in August, the month with the highest average daily temperature. Moisture values were similar on all three meadow, while the lowest moisture was found on the Pasture. The average temperature values were similar on all sites.
