Calculation of drainage retention capacity of soil layers created by subsurface pipe drainage system in non-steady state drainage flow

  • Original language description

The goal of the software was to demonstrate the methodical procedure of calculation of retention capacity of soil layers influenced by subsurface pipe drainage system, under the non-steady state drainage flow, in saturated zone. The calculation of retention capacity comes from analytical approximation of subsurface total drainage discharge in non-steady state drainage flow and it was expressed in two final equations. The numerical experimental calculations of retention capacity of soil layers was compared and verified by these equations with daily-measured values. The daily values came from the experimental drainage area of RISWC-Prague (Czech Republic) and experimental field in Mashtul Pilot Area (Egypt). The results show a good conformity between thecalculated and measured values of retention capacities. These results confirm the correctness of the used formulas, which are a suitable tool for approximation of the retention capacity under the non-steady state drainage flow conditions
