Original language description
The map collection contains two thematic maps, which represent potential distribution Ixobrychus minutus (Critically Endangered) and Rallus aquaticus (Highly Endangered) in Czech Republic. The potential distribution was build using Maxent 3.3.3 software,which is one of the widely used method in Species distribution modelling (SDM). SDM is based on combination spatial information with environmental variables (in this case: temperature, precipitation, elevation, slope, Corine land-cover and water distance) and creates a model that displays areas of high similarity to the currently known locations of a species. Results (maps) of these models are useful for estimating the potential of species occurrence in poorly surveyed areas and for directing new surveys to places where species are likely to be found.
