THE COMPARISON OF THE INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL ELEVATION MODELS ON GEOMORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WATERSHED
Original language description
Two sources of the digital elevation model (DEM) are being compared in the article. The first source is the hydrologically correct DEM created by the interpolation of the contour line and streams. The second one is DEM (STRM) created by interferometric measuring by the space shuttle Endeavour. For the subsequent comparison of those two DEMs streams were created by the raster method D8 and geomorfological characteristics derived. Those characteristics were acquired by using the software ArcGIS and its extensions. Nine basic geomorphological characteristics were chosen for five selected watersheds on the territory of the Czech Republic. Those watersheds were selected on the basis of similar areas and various types of landscape relief (lowlands, midlands, highlands zones). The resultant values of the geomorphological characteristics were tested by the pair T-test. The study´s results show that the freely available data for the Czech Republic are not fully sufficient for derivation of all
