Boussinesq and Kinematic Wave Equation based Catchment Transport Model

  • Original language description

This paper presents pseudo-deterministic catchment transport model based on Boussinesq equation -the governing equation for the subsurface flow, and the kinematic wave equation -the governing equation for the surface runoff. This model provides a solution for a separation of the fast surfaces runoff and the slow hypodermic flow. The flow separation is based on a reservoir conceptual approach. The model uses a variety of deterministic parameters, such as the soil hydrological properties, simplified catchment geometry and Manning roughness coefficient. By specifying a distance between channel bottom and impermeable layer this model provides an estimate of the channel underflow, and thus runoff coefficient for a simulated event is given. This model even provides an estimate of the surface runoff height, and thus it could provide a useful data for erosion studies.
