The research focused on the presence of chromium(VI) in various stages manufacture of fiber cement in two industrial plants in the Czech Republic for the production of fiber-cement roofing and boards. The main component of fiber cement forming the cement with which enters production large amounts of carcinogenic chromium(VI). The results show that only a small part of hexavalent chromium which enters the production terminates in the final product. This is different to classical concrete. Most of outputting hexavalent chromium is in the wastewater, in which hexavalent chromium is reduced to trivalent during wastewater treatment.
