  • Original language description

The research of the use of renewable energy sources in the heating industry of the Czech Republic was conducted through the analysis of fuel consumption for heat production and the share of individual facilities on the net heat production, including a comparison in the European context. Also examined were the outputs from this system into the environment in the form of emissions and waste from heating processes. 2013 was chosen as the reference year. In the Czech Republic the centralized heat supply system is applied in a large extent. According to estimates it covers about 1,6 million households. The research found that fuel consumption for heat production is clearly dominated by brown coal, the main share on the net heat production belonging to electrical power plants and heating plants. The use of renewable energy sources is thus represented in minority and due to sustainable development it is necessary to pay much more attention to these issues. The results obtained were used to assess the level
