Injuries on Forest Stands in Krusne Hory Mountains Caused by Utilization of Logging Systems
Original language description
Today we face an intensive development of harvester technologies. Harvesters have found their place, owing to their usability on suitable slopes and on soils with adequate bearing capacities, in the Krušné hory area. The harvesters are employed there especially due to the optimal tree species composition (Norway spruce 74,65 %; Scotch pine 10,86 %), which is convenient for this technology. During logging - transport operations it is impossible to avoid anthropogenic damages on stands. Though, on the basis of this research, it is possible to regard the harvester technologies, providing that a crew is skilful enough, as one of the less harmful for forest stands. In the case of the harvesters the range of injuries was 0,35 - 4,80 % in dependence on the age of a stand. The choice of a proper technology and a logging method can minimise the future losses on timber yield, in particular due to a rot. On the basis of the presented results further technical and technological parameters can be o
