Surface liming of immission clear-cuts: benefits and risks.
Original language description
Liming was a widely used ameliorative treatment in forestry, which importance is raising in recent years again. Tens of thousands of hectares were limed by the forest practice, only few research plots and experiments are disposable despite this extent. Some of the oldest experiments have been established by the Forest Research Station Opočno and are evaluated in co-operation with the Faculty of Forestry in Prague. Research results document the effects and impacts of liming on the plantation growth and development, as well as on the dynamics of forest soils. Not only the favourable effects are observed, i.e. soil reaction, adsorption complex and nutrient budgets corrections, but also the negative impacts: humus form and nitrogen cycles disturbance. Presented study documents the effects of experimental liming on the forest soils and forest plantations (Norway spruce). Liming was performed in the top part of the Orlické hory Mts., in the altitude 1100 m a.s.l. Mean annual temperature is 4
