Indication of ecological trap in a uniform agricultural landscape: The case study on the Grey Partridge.
Original language description
A way how to achieve one of goals in modern agriculture, a support of biodiversity, is to accept the concept of target species which should be managed. For purposes of this study, we adopted the grey partridge (Perdix perdix), the resident game phasianidwith small home ranges and numbers strongly depending on the quality and availability of vegetation cover, food, nesting opportunities and predation pressure from most of avian and mammal predators commonly occuring throughout the agricultural landscape. Presence of grey partridges, predators and habitat composition we monitored during April between 2000 and 2003 on 265 quadrats 345 x 380 m on the total area 35 km2 in Písek region, South Bohemia, Czech Republic. Grey partridges (population density 2-5pairs km-2) regularly occupied only 10 % of quadrats while they were absent in 37 %. Relationships among spatial distribution of grey partridges, predators and habitats were tested using generalized linear models (binomial distribution, T
