Implementation of sustainable forest management belongs to the priorities of the Czech forestry policy and the whole forestry community. Discussions on principles of nature close management systems grow intensive and the issue is more or less treated byall interested parties. However the implementation of this goal is complicated by continual escalation of two contradictory principles: a decreasing economic profitability of forest production on one hand and a growing stress to provide environmental services by the forestry sector on the other hand. This dilemma can namely be noticed in case of the management of marginal and submarginal forest stands and properties.
