Forestry education on the university level has a long tradition in Prague. First encyclopaedic lectures on forestry were included in the curriculum of lectures in the frame of the Chair of Agriculture at Prague University in 1789. First regular lectureson forestry were given by professor Liebich at the Polytechnic University since 1848. The Faculty of Forestry was established in Prague in 1919. In the mid 1960s (1964), the Faculty of Forestry was transformed into the Scientific Forest Institute, laterto the Institute of Applied Ecology and Ecotechnology, running prevailingly research activities in forestry and environment sciences. The teaching process was limited to postgraduate distant courses. Full revival of forestry education in Prague came in 1990. At present, the Faculty of Forestry and Environment ?
