Influence of establishment and tending on following development of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii/Mirbel/Franko) stand.

  • Original language description

The study presents evaluation of three stands of the Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii/Mirbel/Franko) on the School forest enterprise territory in Kostelec nad Černými lesy. The preliminary results confirm high productivity of the Douglas fir in comparison with our native species. The Eastern white pine is the only tree species that copes with the productivity of the Douglas fir. The growth, thickness as well as hight of the Eastern white pine are equal with these characters of the Douglas fir. If we compare these stands we can see substantial growth variability depending on stand conditions and the silvicultural system. The stands differ in the way of establishment and tending. The difference approves mostly if we compare the basic mensurational variables.
