A comparison of sequential extraction procedures for fractionation of arsenic in soil
Original language description
This study compare the results of arsenic fractionation using the SM&T scheme with two frequently applied sequential extraction procedures which have been developed for determination of wide spectrum of elements, especially metals. The results confirmedthat determination of arsenic portions bound in individual soil fractions is strongly dependent on extracting agent and/or procedure applied within individual extracting schemes. Even small modification of sequential extracting procedure can result in significant variability of results among laboratories. Expectably, absolute values of arsenic released among individual extracting procedures are weakly comparable. However, significant correlations of analytical data suggested that trends in characterizat ion of arsenic distribution into main soil fractions agreed regardless of extraction procedure applied.
