The fluctuation of mobile portions of soil As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn during vegetation of willows
Original language description
Three clones of willows were planted in pot experiment at three soils differing in physical-chemical parameters (Chernozem (A), Cambisol (B) and Fluvisol (C)) and contamination by potentially risk elements (i.e. normal (A), elevated (B), and extremely elevated (C) level of total concentration of Cd, Pb and Zn in soil). Comparing the soils, higher in percentage of plant-available Cd and Zn were determined the contaminated soils (B and C) than the soil containing normal level of elements (A) because of an thropogenic source of pollution in the case of soils B and C. The concentrations of plant-available As, Cu and Zn did not significantly change during vegetation period of willow plants. The results suggested the ability of element-accumulating plants to suppress the plant-available fraction of Cd and Zn in soil via off take of these elements by plant biomass. However, long-term effect of willow plants on plant-availability of followed elements have to be studied in further time as well
