    The book represents a result of an international team research that concentrates on the history of art history in the former Soviet Bloc countries. The contribution deals with the specific situation in Czech art history around the year 1950, i.e. during the forced Stalinization of the country after the Communist takeover in 1948. It show show the new authoritarian political regime has enlisted the support of both younger and older art historians who helped to construe its new, socialist face.
