Original language description
The study examines the connection between spatial planning and political reform in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 1960s. Using the example of the Prague-Central Bohemian agglomera-tion spatial plan (1969–1971), it explains the activity of urban planners during the Prague Spring period and their disillusionment with the failure of the project when the political course changed. The text maps the ideological aspects of the project, reveals the plan's continuity with an older tradition of Czechoslovak regional planning and contemporary Western urbanism, and draws attention to the limits of applying modernist principles to urban and regional issues.
