The corrosion of coated and uncoated Mo and uncoated MoZrO2 in glass melts under a.c. loading
Original language description
Three molybdenum based materials were exposed to three commercial glass melts under alternating current loading. The most significant deviation to lower corrosion could be found for material doped by 5% ZrO2 in green bottle glass. Retardation of intercristalline corrosion by the particles of the dopant may be responsible for the behaviour. Sibor (Si-B) coated molybdenum was also tested in borosilicate glass melts. After an initial period of strong dissolution and bubble formation the corrosion rate decreased and became lower than at three uncoated molybdenum materials. Presumably the preferential reaction of Si and B over the initial period is responsible for this effect.
