Effect of bromides on formation of disinfection by-products resulting from chlorination of water containing natural organic matter
Original language description
The effect of bromides in water (0 - 5 mg/l) on distribution of chlorination by-product species resulting from chlorination of natural organic matter (humic substances) was investigated. The chlorinated water samples were analyzed for four haloforms andnine haloacetic acids containing chlorine and bromine atoms. Surface water (the Vltava River water in Prague, Czech Republic) was used for the experiments. The effect of reaction time (6, 48 and 168 hours) and pH (5, 7 and 9) of water were also examined.
