Light-driven catalysts based on flavin-zinc(II)-cyclen system
Original language description
It was found that the flavin-zinc(II)-cyclen derivative 1a catalyzed efficiently photoinduced electron-transfer oxidation of 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol in acetonitril under atmospheric pressure of oxygen. After reduction by sodium dithionite and after irradiation, reduced molecule 1b cleaved thymine dimer. In these reactions, presence of the covalently bound zinc(II)-cyclen subunit is crucial for efficient functioning of our photocatalysts. Photooxidations by water soluble derivative 1 were also tested inaqueous solutions.
