    Electrodeionization process

  • Original language description

The research in our laboratory is concentrated on modern separation technology, electrodeionization (EDI). EDI is combination of electrodialysis and ion exchange resins. The process effectively desalts water while the ion exchange resins are continuouslyregenerated by electric current in the EDI unit to their hydrogen and hydroxide forms. In this case the electrochemical regeneration replace the chemical regeneration of conventional ion-exchange system. The aim of our research is to obtain water with conductivity bellow 1 mS.cm-1.
