Effect of doping on properties of Bi-superconductors
Original language description
The properties of BiSrCaCuO superconductor can be controlled by the addition or substitution of the elements having a different ionic radius and a different bonding character. We have investigated [1] the influence of the transition metals with variablevalence (V, Nb, Ta, Mn) on the properties of Bi-based superconductors. The study reveals that for all substituents an addition of small amount of them enhances the content of the Bi-2223 phase and improves the transport properties. On the other hand greater amount of substituents deteriorates weak links in the samples. Furthermore, the influence of column 3A elements (B, Al, Ga, In) on the properties of Bi-system has been studied [2]. All samples were mixed phases of Bi-2212 and Bi-2223. The lattice parameters of the superconducting phases were obtained, and no systematic variations with the dopant level were found. Boron enhanced the formation of the Bi-2223 phase, the samples had a narrow transition with the Tc = 108 K. The amount of
