In-situ and Ex-situ Study of Oxide Formed on VVER Steam Generator Tube
Original language description
In-situ and ex-situ study of oxide thermally formed on the austenitic steel 08CH18N10T was performed. In-situ electrochemical measurements were conducted under autoclave conditions at 280°C and 8MPa in high purity low oxygen water used, alkalized to pH value of 9.5 with or without 200 ppm of chlorides. Ex-situ electrochemical measurements were performed in deaerated borate buffer solutions (pH 8.4). It was found that oxide thickness value obtained from impedance measurements does not correspond to the total oxide thickness. Low frequency in-situ impedance data were compared with corrosion rate estimated by independent techniques. Mott-Schottky plots measured ex-situ revealed semiconductive character of the oxide.
