Corrosion of Palladium-Silver Binary Alloys
Original language description
Palladium casting materials used in dentistry are often complexly alloyed. The base of these materials is mostly palladium-silver system. The aim of this study was to determine the corrosion mechanism of silver-palladium alloys. Binary alloys in concentration range from Pd80Ag20 to Pd20Ag80, pure palladium and silver were tested in artificial saliva solution. Electrochemical tests included corrosion potential, polarization resistance, and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. Laboratory study was completed by the thermodynamic calculation of theoretically formed corrosion products.
