Electrocatalytical Activity of Polypyrrole-Pt Composites.
Original language description
The work reported is focused on the new electrocatalytic composite materials based on the polypyrrole and platinum. They are designed for fuel cell applications. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) are potentially an efficient and ecologically friendly power source for the future. Nowadays the most important drawback of the methanol PEMFC is the poor resistivity of the catalyst to poisoning by carbon-based by-products. The present design of the catalyst layer is usually based on a carbon-black supported catalyst impregnated with Nafion. In this case also the problem of three phase contact often arises. The use of conducting polymers (CP) has been suggested as an alternative solution to this problem. CPs exhibit intrinsic electronic conductivityas well as sufficient ionic conductivity. Furthermore it has been reported that incorporation of the catalyst into the CP improves its resistivity to poisoning. The aim of this study was to prepare polypyrrole (PPy) films modified by Pt
Czech name
Elektrokatalytická aktivita kompozitů typu polypyrrol-platina.
