    Application of photocatalysis on TiO2 for pesticide removal

    Pesticides contaminate surface water mainly by washing from fields and crop-plant and by wind during aeral spraying. They may disrupt biologic equilibrium in streams due to their toxic effect on biocenosis. They can also unfavorably influence the self-cleaning ability of water, its odour and taste. Surface water is still treated and distributed as drinking water to more than half of the population in the Czech Republic supplied from public water conduits. One of the techniquers which can be successfullyapplied for pesticide removal is the heterogeneous photocatalysis. It is based on the light absorption by semiconductor particles, typically of TiO2. The aim of this study was to compare kinetics of oxidative photodegradation of triazine herbicides using TiO2 system.

    Práce se zabývala řešením problému znečištění povrchových vod pesticidy, které se do vody dříve dostávali buď přímou kontaminací nebo splachem z obdělávané zemědělské půdy. K čištění vody byla v tomto případě použita fotodegradace s využitím UV záření afotokatalyzátoru TiO2. Cílem práce bylo zjistit kinetiku a účinnost TiO2 systému na odbourávání modelových triazynových herbicidů.
