Cyclic ketones oxidation by hydrogen peroxide

  • Original language description

Introduction Oxidation of ketones, cyclic ketones or aldehydes to esters, lactones or hydroxyderivatives is known reaction also called as Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. This reaction on carbonyl group take place due to the influence of strong oxidizing agents as peroxoacetic acid, m-chloroperbenzoic acids and others. Using these agents the waste compounds are formed during Baeyer-Villiger oxidation that is necessary to isolate from reaction mixture and ecologically eliminate. Using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidation agent in Baeyer-Villiger oxidation is convenient from ecological point of view. The only waste compound is water. Unfortunately this agent is not very active and the co-use of catalyst is necessary. As a catalyst for this type of reaction beta zeolites or Sn modified MCM-41 are used. Results and Discussion Using hydrogen peroxide as oxidation agent has some disadvantages ? water, formed during reaction, can hydrolyze demanded product (ester or lactone) and lower the activity of
