Sorbic acid hydrogenation
Original language description
Introduction Immobilization of active substances on different support materials may be used in many industrial branches. It can be used particularly in pharmaceutical industry as a replacement of the cover tablets [1]. In fragrance industry immobilization of fragrant substances is implemented mainly for maintain long fragrant effect [2]. One of the possible substrates is sorbic acid. Using complex [Cp*Ru(sorbic acid)]Tf for sorbic acid hydrogenation[3] cis-hex-3-en acid can be obtained selectively. Disadvantages of homogeneous catalysis may be eliminated by either immobilization of the complex or by immobilization of the substrate. The immobilized substrate could be hydrogenated using the catalyst in the solution and that solution of catalyst could beused again after reaction. Figure 1: Scheme of Ru-complex [Cp*Ru(sorbic acid)]Tf Experimental As a catalyst Ru-complex ([Cp*Ru(sorbic acid)]Tf ) was used and sorbic acid was used as a substrate. As supporting materials hydrotalcites, clay
