    Aging of the TiO2 colloidal particles in water: effect on their properties

  • Original language description

    This work describes the aging of colloidal solutions of Q TiO2 particles at different temperatures (4, 20 and 40 °C) and different pH (2.5 and 11). It was found that the acidic solution kept at 4 °C had the slowest change of particle size during the aging. This solution also had slowest decrease of band gap energy and the quantum yield of photocatalytic degradation of 4 chlorophenol remained unchanged (~1 %). For the transformation of Q TiO2 colloidal solution from acidic to alkaline it was found that the change of size depended on the the type of used alkalic reagent (KOH, NH4OH), on its concentration and on starting concentration of Q-TiO2.
