YOUNGŮV MODUL PORÉZNÍ KERAMIKY A MOŽNOSTI JEHO ODHADU

  • Original language description

This contribution summarizes available relations for the parameter-free prediction (estimation) of tensile moduli (Young?s moduli) of porous ceramics, including the exponential relation and the recently proposed sigmoidal average, and compares the predictions with values measured for alumina, zirconia, alumina-zirconia composites and other ceramics (silicon carbide and nitride). The emphasis is on relations that can be used to circumvent direct measurement of the Young?s modulus. It is shown that for porous ceramics prepared with pore-froming agents the porosity dependence of the Young?s modulus can be predicted with surprisingly high reliability and accuracy using the exponential relation and the sigmoidal average. The prediction is correct to withina few percent. Even higher precision of the prediction can be achieved (without measuring the Young?s modulus directly), when the porosity dependence of another property, e.,g. thermal conductivity, is measured. In this case, using the pr
