    The principles of low temperature measurements of heat capacity using adiabatic calorimetry technique are discussed and the design and operation of an aneroid-type adiabatic calorimeter are described. As an alternative approach to experimantal determination of low-temperature heat capacity, the theoretical first principles techniques for the calculation of phonon and electronics contribution to heat capacity and entropy of crystalline solids are outlined. Both approaches are demonstrated on a few examples.
