    Study on recovering rare earth elements from used luminescent lamps

  • Original language description

    The recent hydrometallurgical treatments of waste phosphors from luminescent lamps were reviewed and discussed. The preliminary leaching experiments were performed to recover Eu and Y from the samples from recycling of linear luminescent lamps in the Czech republic. The results show that it is possible to obtain Eu and Y from leaching the waste phosphor in 3M HNO3 (l:s = 10:1). The maximum Eu and Y extraction efficiency of 91 and 90%, respectively was obtained at 80 °C after 30 min. At temperature of 60°C the release of Eu and Y was slower achieved the steady state after 90 min leaching.
