Original language description
This work aims to describe the effect of silicon on the microstructure of Ti-Al and Fe-Al alloys produced by reactive sintering. Results showed that silicon significantly reduces the porosity of the product in both the Fe-Al and Ti-Al alloy types. In Ti-Al-Si system, an in-situ Ti5Si3-TiAl composite can be produced by this technology. In Fe-Al-Si system, more complex structure consisting of binary Fe-Al and Fe-Si and ternary Fe-Al-Si phases is formed depending on the silicon content and reactive sintering temperature.
