Thermal conductivity of ceramics - from monolithic to multiphase, from dense to porous, from micro to nano
Original language description
Thermal conductivity is the key property for thermal insulation applications. The thermal conductivity of ceramics can be significantly reduced by porosity, whereas the influence of grain size is usually much weaker, except for truly nanocrystalline ceramics. This chapter deals with the thermal conductivity of ceramics and ceramic composites, its temperature dependence and its dependence on composition (in the case of composites), porosity and grain size.
