Ultrafine-grained aluminium alloys prepared by severe plastic deformation (ECAP)
Original language description
Metallic materials with very low grain size can exhibit significantly better functional properties compared to conventional materials with coarser grain size. Equal-Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) is a promising severe plastic deformation technique for preparation of ultrafine-grained (UFG) and nanocrystalline materials. The aim of this work is to find the dependence between ECAP processing conditions and final microstructure of aluminium alloys based on Al-Mg-Sc. The processes leading to the grain refinement are also discussed. The microstructure (the grain size as well as presence and distribution of intermediary phases) and crystallography were studied by light and electron microscopy (TEM, SEM-EBSD).
