Preparation of leucite dental ceramics with different amount of leucite crystals
Original language description
Leucite ceramics is one of the most widely used materials in dental prosthetics nowadays. The aim of this work was to prepare the dental leucite composites consisting of pure leucite crystals and amorphous glass matrix. Leucite crystals with particle size ~ 4 mým were prepared at hydrothermal conditions. Amorphous phase was prepared by melting process followed by crushing and grinding to average particle size of 27 mým. Compact samples containing 10 - 40 wt.% leucite content were fused in a vacuum furnace. The composite samples were observed using optical and electron microscopy. The hardness of the material using the Vickers indentation method was measured. The values were within a narrow range from 5.1 to 5.5 GPa.
